One recalls what Machiavelli wrote about Cesar Borgia, who dispatched a powerful aide to clean up a city, then got him killed once he became unpopular. Borgia reaped the rewards of the clean up *and* of delivering the city from an unpopular henchman.

Remirro di Orco - I made that same analogy way back at the start of all this DOGE business. Trump thought Musk was Remirro di Orco and he was Cesare Borgia, Musk thought Trump was a Merovingian monarch and he was Charles Martel. It was never going to end well.

I might need a strategic reserve of popcorn for this dramatic Boss-Level battle

I think Elon is chickening out even more than Trump 😆

Please this is 101 reverse Psychology for Musk to attempt to gain favor with United states citizens and reverse his significantly downward Tesla sales and reputation while he walked away from the biggest Taxpayer Money Grab and All of the Americans personal Data!

Ken Kovar's avatar

Yes I think that’s about right. He’s never going to get left wing climate focused Tesla owners back but hopefully he does do some damage control 😎

Ken Kovar And, Changes at the top of the Democrats can’t come soon enough, Schumer is Bark and NO Bite and Hakeem Jeffries is Milk-toast!

Ken Kovar's avatar

Yes I’m kind of disappointed with Jeffries these days. And Schumer is not being a very effective leader also!

Two big egos who love the limelight and are used to getting their own way were never going to get on long term. The surprise is that they appeared to work together without trouble for as long as they did.

Republicans are remarkably combative and diverse. It would be great to see the other side go at it, especially the left wing, who have watched all influence vanish.

Have tRump announce that "We are taking a serious look at Elno's government contracts, particularly Starlink", and see how rapidly Elno executes a second 180° pivot, and gets back onside.

Lance Khrome's avatar

And, Elno now tweets that tRump "is in the Epstein files"...whoa, we've gone to DEFCON 1!

If only Trump, Musk, and their sycophants - I'm tpted to intentionally spell that as "psychophants" - were fighting this out in a trailer park somewhere, rather than over the corpus of the federal government they have so gravely damaged.

The stuff in the last 5--6 hours is so good!! I don't like popcorn much but am willing to splurge on it purely for cultural conformity while we watch what unfolds. That spot on the sofa is mine

I think it was DOGES inept handling of improving government efficiency that probably caused him to be forced out. And look at all those disgruntled politicians that didn’t want Elon in the first place. He needs to shut the heck up and fix his businesses. And lay off the drugs 😆

Does any of this matter when Musk has successfully implanted his DOGE incels in govt. to steal everyone's data and pass it to him and Peter Thiel? Serious question. Just asking.

Many have pointed out that Musk may have rigged the elections, and if he starts spilling the beans on that, the results can be devastating.

wiredog's avatar

Rigged the elections? How? You think he hired hackers to subvert Dominion Voting Systems software?

Seriously, US national elections are extremely difficult to tamper with due to their high complexity.

Derek Catsam's avatar

Slow bleed: "We arranged the bomb scares at the Georgia polling centers as part of a larger plan to disrupt the elections at Mr. Trump's behest." Then a day or two later "Mr. Trump asked me to engage in disinformation on X in the months leading up to the election and in exchange I would receive the position at DOGE ..." And then "We had conversations with these Russian leaders about Ukraine, but we also discussed the election" (a law violating two-fer!)

I think Elon is not going to continue. He needs a good working relationship with the government!
