How one man, Hitler, could take over Germany and almost destroy the world is a question that has preoccupied me all my life. I have read many books on it, and Laurence Rees’s is one of the best. I cannot recommend it more strongly, because we are seeing many of the same things being played out right before our eyes, something I could not have even imagined. The 12 “warnings from history” could not be more timely. If we do not take them seriously enough RIGHT NOW, we risk becoming the butt of one of history’s grim jokes — like those in devastated Germany.
