“Centering” without acknowledging the very large difference between Democrats trying to give all rights to choose and the resources available for those choices, and the Republicans seeking to dismantle rights and resources, and instead pretending that there’s a “middle” view of issues, is simply normalizing fascism. And that’s basically what Licht looks like he is doing. Not actually having the deep discussions with his staff and making a plan together is choosing to fail.

There’s no parallel between MSNBC and Fox in terms of both being unhinged and disconnected from reality. “Centering” without deeply discussing issues and picking them apart is shallow and lazy. Just having ”different opinions” when there’s say election deniers on screen, means that even the truth itself is not equally acknowledged.

How could they even have had reality centered when they didn’t even prepare together for the Trump town hall? Everyone saw the results for themselves.

“Centering” without acknowledging the very real and growing rightward lurch I of Republicans and how they are hurting lives in myriad ways, is journalistic malpractice. Not acknowledging that the progressive laws passed by Democrats are popular aims and are improving lives of millions is similarly malpractice. The two are not the same and this needs acknowledging, not ignoring and “centering”.

Not sure if you’d know this, but as a high school history teacher I show CNN10 once a week to help students keep up with current events. It’s geared towards students and covers (most) big stories within 10 minutes a day. For several years the host was Carl Azuz, who was a little corny but students grew to like him. This year he was replaced and my students can’t stand the guy who replaced him... any chance that was Licht’s call? Definitely not gaining any young CNN viewers from CNN10 anymore...
