Love it! The Celtics played great team basketball, and they dominated. The Guardian had an article wishing for more heroics and clutch plays. I think you’ve got explained very well why this Celtics team doesn’t look like many of the championship teams which we have seen before.

Settle down. First, the punditry complex has to create content. A month's worth of "oh, the Celtics are awesome" is boring, so they're always going to look for angles. The Celtics could have been completely undefeated and people would have looked for the contrarian take. In fact, we're seeing it this morning with a raft of "the Celtics Can Be A Dynasty!" news stories.

I bet you like those better.

Second, the whole "growth mentality" thing being this impressively new thing is just silly. Every successful team throughout the eons talks about letting go of wins and losses and moving forward. Adding a new age label to it is something...a pundit would do. You think they're letting go of achievements this morning? Moving on to the next thing immediately (cue raft of stories about how Tatum was out training at 6 am this morning)?

Third: dude, enjoy the win. You can luxuriate in the championship without having to make it about how Someone Else Was Wrong On The Intertubes. There's nothing worse than being a sore winner.

You can't win it all until you win it all is one of those sports truisms that applies here. Tatum and Brown were going to be seen as unable to close until they closed, and now that they have closed, everything changes about their perception. Given their youth and depth, the C's should be able to contend like this for a while. Obviously some of the players close to free agency will look to get paid and maybe to be the guy somewhere, but this team is far better equipped to compete for championships than the 2008 Big Three version were.

We're roughly the same age, are both academics, are both Boston sports fans, and both went to Williams, so we have a great deal in common. Another of them is this unprecedented run of championships starting with the 2001 Pats and extending to these Cs. The Pats face a steep climb back to relevance, never mind dominance, the Sox seem content to milk Fenway for all its worth and to expect us to be thankful for four titles, and the B's have managed to fly under the radar as a team more likely to gag than to win it all. That leaves the Cs. Tatum, Brown, and co. have a real chance, but it's hard to win it all and is even harder to repeat, so we should savor this, because the Sox ain't playing in October, by which point we might wish that the Pats weren't.

I mean, you _should_ be thankful for 4 titles. No other MLB franchise as won more than 2 since 2004 (and there have been some absolutely loaded MLB franchises in recent years. Edit: whoops: forgot that the Gints somehow won 3 WSs). Does it take 8 WS titles to satisfy you?!?! Man, talk about being completely spoiled.

Yeah, thanks for the (now corrected -- facts are hard!) history lesson. I am thrilled about the four titles, but that does not change the state of the Sox right now. I don't get your unecessarily aggressive tone here. Maybe there is Barstool comment thread where you can vent your spleen at people?

You don't see how whining after your team has won 4 WS in a span when no other MLB team has won that many doesn't come off as tone-deaf and out-of-touch?

Who was whining? I made a realistic assessment of where the Red Sox (and other Boston sports teams) are. If you can find factual or interpretive faults with what I wrote, especially after ALREADY POINTING OUT what an unprecedented run Boston sports fans are enjoying, have at it. Again, no idea why you've chosen to be a dick to a stranger. I can give you the link to X/Twitter if you need it. That tends to be a good place for people who want to be dicks to strangers for no real reason.

You just called me, a stranger who has done nothing to you, a "douche." And you have not quoted a single line that I wrote that would help defend you calling me, a stranger who has done nothing to you, a "douche."

Well done, including the headline.
