I think sober analysts will feel that Russia can throw around it's trival economic weight as much as it likes. Whatever the efforts by Russian diplomats to engage China in such schemes, I don't think it's in the habit of letting vassal states tell it what to do.

Thanks for validating my choice to not read that article after seeing its headline. Maybe Western reporters will get a clue eventually about not being useful idiots for the Kremlin, but I’m not holding my breath.

This article examines the idea that Russia is pursuing alliances to undermine America. However, the actual strategic planner regarding partnerships to undermind America is China. China is thrilled to see America preoccupied with the Middle East and Ukraine and paying less attention to the Southeast Pacific.

This sent me down a ‘chomping/champing at the bit’ rabbit-hole. Champing was the original correct term, but so many people say chomping it seems silly to call it incorrect...

Reminds me a little of ‘blocking and tackling’ as if it’s a football metaphor...but it was originally not about doing essential tasks correctly, it’s about having essential *equipment* (the block & tackle on a sailing ship). But the football metaphor works just as well, so why split hairs? (Or is it hares?)
