It is indeed disquieting. I'm an Australian and even from this distance the thought of President Trump Mk 2 has me worried. But one bright spot is that since the Roe v Wade decision there have been a large number of special elections, in red, purple and blue districts and the Democrats have consistently polled above the weighted average of their last two elections. It seems that the Democrats are fired up to vote and if Trump's on the ballot that'll almost certainly move a lot of tepid Democrat voters into the booths....But still. I'm worried!

The Dems now getting the (generally socially liberal) educated high-propensity voters really helps them dominate low-turnout elections these days.

Yes I've heard that. Still it's a major change because not too recently it was the standard wisdom that low-turnout elections favoured Republicans.

It's a major change.

Yes, while middle class and working class abandon them.

Lots of college-educated are middle-class too, dude.

The problem for Biden is he needs to run the table this time around. He could fall and break his hip, he could find himself looking even more guilty over his influencing peddling, recession could happen and lastly we could end up in WW 3. Point being Trump is as damaged as he gonna get but Biden cant have any of the above happen.

What influence peddling?

The Biden family enterprise aka Burisma...Between the Chinese and Ukrainians he had a for sale sign out.

There's no evidence of any wrongdoing there. On the other hand, Trump's family did cash in on the presidency.

You really are full of horse crap!

No evidence? So why would Burisma pay Hunter millions when he has zero experience and knowledge of the oil industry? Why did his pay go down when Biden left office but back up when his Dad got the nomination. There is so much circumstantial evidence its pathetic but okay there is no direct evidence YET!!! But when that shoe drops and Biden is the nominee the dems will have no choice but to look the other way.

Yup Trump did a lot of criminal stuff but again the problem for Biden is he has to run the tables and hope nothing bad happens till November 2024. And as for Trump heck he'll be in jail by then and possibly elected to President.....bring out the popcorn cause he's gonna spend the next 4 years going after the left.

I don't know about any of that, and it's as likely to be untrue as it is to be true. But, the main reckless allegation which Republicans have made is that Joe Biden took action on behalf of Burisma to take down a prosecutor which they supposedly didn't like. That allegation is categorically false, and what is more the people making the allegation know that it is false.

Glad I read this at the top of the day. Yes Trump is all Seth showed but yes also neck and neck with Biden. This is where we are. But I am also glad someone else is nerdy about how a Closer Look gets such good montages so quickly after coming back to the air. Thanks for this too.

I completely agree that Trump's outcome has high variance, and that's a really great way of stating it. He has skated for so long past violations of the law as well as standards of decency and in how he conducts his businesses. It's surprising that his shenanigans never caught up to him before. I think he is a profoundly stupid man with a supercharged survival instinct, and without any scruples or shame.

He has survived six corporate bankruptcies and public disclosure of disgusting and embarrassing conduct which would sink almost anyone else. It's tempting to think that he will just drag himself over these latest hurdles and flop to the ground in victory, but I think that eventually his many failures were destined to catch up with him, and now is as good a time as any.

Yes you idiot, because we all await this liberal fool Seth Meyers nonsense as political knowledge. Stupid!

I’m not denying he’s liberal, but the point of the clip is the collection of Trump’s cognitive mistakes on the campaign trail and his legal troubles in courtrooms. About which you apparently have nothing to say.

There is no doubt his age and acuity is catching up to him. Of course it will be used against him. He’s not half alive like the other guy, but DeSAntis has raised the age issue with both. In fairness he has a lot on his mind with legal issues. Non the less it’s naive to think it won’t. Seth Meyers is a joke, period.

None of the late night talkies share any view on behalf of conservatives. It’s not new news for honest conservative GOPers bout Trump or Biden’s on age. Gov Ron is the only hope and choice for the GOP. You can’t pay me to watch the late night garbage of hate they spew. You can.

We deserve and need better than Biden & Trump. They are as bad as ex potus Johnson & Nixon. Horrible all 4. Trump signed approved $8 trillion in debt. Biden has approved over $7 trillion in 3 yrs. they are both horrible. DeSAntis is the only hope for GOP.

regarding polls, as has often been said Mike Dukakis was 18 points ahead of Bush on Labor day. Cry me no polls.

The great Dem advocacy pollster Quinnipiac had DeSantis down to druggie Hikkim, the next ordained Obama by Soros, by 11% on election eve in 18. He won by .5%, 11.5 swing! Quinnipiac is never wrong, my ass.

The real fear the Trump haters should have is that the polling is likely wrong - as before, many voters won’t reveal their choice for fear of being shamed or ostracized - his support could be far greater than the polling shows.

In the end I have little doubt the mass mail-in ballots, drop boxes and “late” counting will sink Trump or any other challenger to the throne - whether it’s Biden or Newsom who gets anointed (which appears to be more likely)- it worked once, they will surely do it again.
