I can’t say I am surprised. I find the exercise is over national security for the G-7, and not about fairness for all. “De-risk, not de-couple.” As much as Washington coordinates these things to keep us safe, that’s not to say they exercise that same caution towards the American public.
I would be willing to bet my last petrodollar that what the G7 (read: the US) calls Chinese coercion consists of circumventing the USD, and that's all.
