A little surprised there was no analysis of the sanctions on Russia after the Ukraine invasion. What's your assessment of them professor? I'm no expert, but they seem to be hindering Russia's war effort in a cumulative way.
I am skeptical of most sanctions - the mostly seem like a low-cost way for people in Washington and Brussels to show that they are "doing something" without imposing any costs on themselves. No pain (to the imposer), no gain applies as well to sanctions as much as it does to exercise.
I'm even more skeptical of editorial boards. How can a bunch of non-experts opine intelligently on so many different subjects? And while some editorials are spot on, for many of them all I can think of to say is "who cares what these people have to say about XXX?"
