Your column is misnamed. The public is not prudent, Americans are the most ignorant population in the world. They were all warned about rRump, but they voted for him, or did not vote at all (woman+Black=no vote). "Prudent" after he TOLD us what he would do is not "prudent," it's STUPID!!!!!
So the prudent American public (sorry Iraq) is most opposed to the least consequential measure (the Gulf of Mexico), and there is a significant minority who is willing to use force and conquer... Canada.
To me, this sounds like there could be a way for a motivated administration to change these numbers. Much of MAGA already thinks that Canada lives under the communist tyranny of Trudeau (🤷), and we're headed for a trade war. Public opinion is malleable, and more so if they are not knowledgeable; and the prudent American public is the least knowledgeable of all developed countries. The prudent American public won't need much convincing to support a more brutal approach against Canada. And if you are willing to use force against Canada of all places, you're just a nation of homicidal maniacs. Or maybe it will just be a good old-fashioned coup, like in Australia in 1975 as some have alleged?
Right. Since 60% want troops at the southern border We are very easily propagandized. That’s where the right has really made headway. “Mexicans are criminals and rapists”. It would be no trick at all to get 60% of Americans to believe we need to take over Canada or how about when he says we need to sign a mutual aid pact with Russia. The sky is really the limit. We are here and we are stupid, lazy and most of all, greedy.

Huh. I thought belligerent assholery was kind of America's thing now.
